Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

1. About this policy

This policy explains what personal information Cheatful ("Cheatful", "we", "us") collects when you use our website and services, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Cheatful is operated from British Columbia, Canada.

By using Cheatful you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Cheatful. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

2. Contact and privacy officer

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information. You can reach them, and us, at [email protected] for any question, request or complaint about privacy.

3. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run Cheatful:

  • Account information: your email address and password when you sign up, and your name if you choose to add one. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form. We never see them.
  • Content you provide: text, files, links, prompts and other material you enter or upload, and the results we produce for you.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser type, device information, and the date and time of requests. We use this to keep Cheatful secure, prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, such as support requests.

We do not ask for, and you should not provide, sensitive information such as government identification numbers, health information or financial account details.

4. Information that stays in your browser

Some tools work entirely in your browser. For these tools, your text, settings and work are saved in your browser's local storage on your device and are not sent to our servers. The tool will say so on screen. You can delete this information at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Some tools look up public information (for example, book or article details for a citation) by contacting public catalogues and databases directly from your browser, such as doi.org, Crossref, Europe PMC, Open Library and Google Books. These services receive your search and your IP address and handle them under their own privacy policies.

5. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage your account and sign you in;
  • provide the tools and features you ask for, including processing your content with AI models;
  • send service emails, such as account confirmation, password reset and security notices;
  • keep Cheatful secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service and usage limits;
  • fix problems and improve how Cheatful works;
  • comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. We will not send you marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

6. AI processing

Some features send your content to AI model providers to generate results. We currently use OpenAI and Anthropic. We send only what is needed to complete your request.

  • We do not use your content to train AI models.
  • We use these providers' business services, under terms that do not allow them to use your content to train their models.
  • Providers may keep content for a limited time (typically up to 30 days) to detect abuse and keep their services safe, as described in their own policies.

AI results can be wrong or incomplete. Please check anything important before relying on it.

7. Legal bases (EU, EEA and UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep Cheatful secure, prevent abuse and improve the service.
  • Consent: where we ask for it, for example optional emails. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

8. Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run Cheatful, and only as needed for them to do that work. They are required to protect it and may not use it for their own purposes. Our providers are:

  • Supabase: accounts, sign-in, database and file storage;
  • Cloudflare: network delivery and security for our website;
  • OpenAI and Anthropic: AI processing of content you submit;
  • Email delivery provider: sending account and service emails;
  • Monitoring and logging tools: tracking errors, costs and performance.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, us or others, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

9. Where your information is stored

We are based in Canada, and our service providers may store and process information in Canada, the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data protection laws than where you live, and your information may be accessible to their courts and authorities. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

10. How long we keep information

  • Account information is kept while your account is open.
  • Content you upload and the results we produce are kept until you delete them or your account.
  • Technical and security logs are kept for a limited time, normally no longer than 90 days.
  • When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Copies in backups are removed as the backups expire, normally within 90 days.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information or your account;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • object to or limit certain uses of your information;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it;
  • not be treated differently for using these rights.

You can update your name, email and password in Settings. For anything else, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires (normally within 30 days).

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or your local data protection authority.

12. Children and students

Cheatful is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most places), or under the age at which you can consent to data processing in your country, you may use Cheatful only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who should review this policy with you.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please contact us at [email protected].

13. Cookies and similar technologies

We use only cookies and browser storage that are needed for Cheatful to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your settings and your work in a tool. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If we add optional cookies, such as for analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Because we do not track you across other websites, we do not change our practices in response to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls and limits on who can access data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and let you know through a notice on Cheatful. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will give you notice before it takes effect and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
